Jakarta – Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX/BEI) President Director Iman Rachman officially resigned from his position on Friday (January 30, 2026), following heightened market turmoil that forced the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI/IHSG) into a two-day trading halt on Wednesday (January 28) and Thursday (January 29).
Iman announced his resignation during the opening of Friday’s trading session, as the market began to show early signs of recovery. In morning trade, the JCI rose 1.77 percent to 8,377.92, rebounding after days of extreme volatility.
“As a form of responsibility for what has occurred over the past two days, I hereby declare my resignation as President Director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange,” Iman said at the IDX building.
He emphasized that the decision was taken in the interest of restoring market stability and investor confidence in Indonesia’s capital markets.
“I hope this will be the best step forward for our capital market. Hopefully, with my resignation, market conditions can improve,” he added.
Iman also expressed optimism regarding the renewed upward movement of the JCI and voiced hope that the recovery trend would continue in the coming days.
Regarding leadership transition, Iman confirmed that the process would proceed in accordance with IDX internal regulations and its articles of association.
“An Acting President Director will be appointed in line with existing rules, until a definitive President Director is officially determined,” he explained.
The resignation has drawn significant attention from market participants, occurring amid persistent volatility in Indonesian equities. It marks a critical moment for exchange authorities as they seek to reinforce market stability, governance, and investor trust in one of Southeast Asia’s largest capital markets.
